Army Scientists Develop New Battery Treatment Process
January 14, 2025 — U.S. Army scientists have developed a new surface treatment that could lead to more efficient and longer-lasting batteries for military applications. June 13, 2024 — The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Soldier Center, located in Natick, MA, recently granted a non-exclusive commercial patent license to SafetySpect, Inc., a dual-use biomedtech/agtech company headquartered in Grand Forks, ND. The license is in furtherance of the commercialization of a handheld tool designed to remove biological matter from surfaces and store it for subsequent analysis, to support food safety and surface sanitation efforts. May 29, 2024 — Researchers at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center, or DEVCOM SC, have invented a personal flow meter to measure water consumption. The invention, which has been licensed to an industry partner, will serve to help prevent dehydration in the nation’s warfighters. Preventing dehydration is important since it can impact Soldier health and performance. Monitoring and understanding hydration status of warfighters can help prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
